Volkswagen’s sportscar brand Porsche is Watch Kalakal Onlinelooking for, and talking to, possible strategic partners to work together with regards to electric vehicle batteries, assisted driving technologies, and vehicle infortainment systems, Barbara Frenkel, executive board member for procurement at Porsche recently told Chinese reporters. Frenkel gave no other details in a media roundtable, except to say the company has no investment plan in China for e-fuels, a CO2-neutral fuel made by synthesizing captured CO2 emissions and “green hydrogen” generated by renewable energy. The comments were made as Porsche faces stiff competition from Chinese players such as NIO and Geely with their cheaper, more tech-advanced cars. Sales of the German luxury sportscar maker dropped 29% year-on-year to 43,280 units in China during the first nine months of this year. [36Kr, in Chinese]
